Embracing Change & Finding Community: Insights from Jennie

G.L.O.S.S. Loft’s Founder/CEO, Joey Flesner, recently hired me to do H.Y.P.E. Retreat Photography (which stands for Highlight Your Present Experience) for her GLOSSy Getaway - Insiders Edition Retreat. Women in this virtual community, of which I am a member, came from nine different states & gathered in the Berkshires of Massachusetts for an extraordinary experience at this one-of-a-kind event.

I asked some of the amazing attendees I met during the retreat to share more of their insights about their experience, & BONUS; they also signed up to do "working photos" with me—headshots & branding images during the "choose your experience" time of the retreat! 

Here are snippets of my recent interview with Jennie Jolly & what you'll hear is absolute delight is was to experience connection with someone new & discover the depths of their passions & experiences she has & continues to choose to have, do, & be in for her personal & professional growth. Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Jennie, who is a proud word nerd, proofreader, editor, & overall enthusiast for all things related to language & communication. Our conversation during downtime in the airport led to a rich exchange about her journey, her experiences, & her reflections on attending the Berkshires retreat that inspired me to want to record some insights with her further.

Jennie shared that her decision to attend the retreat stemmed from her desire for in-person connection, something she values deeply. She recounted the joy of meeting new people, engaging in heartfelt conversations, & the depth of understanding that can only come from spending quality time together. In a world dominated by digital interactions, Jennie's emphasis on personal connection resonated strongly.

Reflecting on her experience at the Berkshires, Jennie spoke about the power of community & support, especially for solopreneurs like herself. She highlighted the difference between the superficial support one might receive online versus the deep understanding & camaraderie found among peers facing similar challenges. It's in these shared experiences that true connections are forged, & Jennie found immense value in that.

One aspect of Jennie's life that stood out was her unexpected journey into chicken farming. What started as a passing interest in chickens led to a full-fledged hobby & even became a quirky inspiration for her business's newsletter, named "Fowl Language." Through her newsletter, Jennie shares grammar tips, language trivia, & of course, amusing anecdotes about her adventures with chickens. CUTE, right?!

As a lifelong word nerd, Jennie's passion for language a& communication shines through in her work. She offers proofreading, editing, & writing services, helping authors fine-tune their manuscripts, businesses polish their communication, & individuals express themselves more clearly.

Jennie's journey is a testament to the power of embracing change & finding community in unexpected places. From her love for words to her unexpected experience getting into chicken farming, Jennie's story is a reminder that our passions & interests can lead us down fascinating paths. & in the midst of it all, the connections we make with others enrich our lives in ways we never imagined.
