The Journey Through Fear & Growth

Nancy & I began by revisiting moments from our past where fear ruled our responses. At 21, I was defensive, intent on proving my worth in a role where respect was often lacking. My reactions were impulsive, & I wasn’t open to feedback or growth. Nancy, at 48, had her own struggles, masking vulnerabilities to avoid being seen as weak.

Our paths may have been different, but they stemmed from a common place—fear. Fear of rejection, judgment, & failure. These fears shaped how we protected ourselves: I tried to control, while Nancy tried to cover up.

Looking back now, we see the wisdom hidden in those struggles. Nancy explained it best: “Those reactions were about protection, but neither allowed us to shine in the moment.”

The Power of Collective Wisdom

One of the most profound parts of our conversation was discussing the wisdom that comes from shared experiences. Nancy highlighted how younger women she works with often teach her things she didn’t learn until later in life. It’s a beautiful reminder that growth is a collective process, fueled by the stories, lessons, & resilience of others.

Even our children can be unexpected teachers. As parents, we think we’re supposed to have all the answers, but our kids often hold up a mirror, showing us what we still need to learn.

Finding Your Gem

A pivotal part of my journey with Nancy was discovering my personalized gem—a metaphorical representation of my unique character & strengths. Nancy’s Unleash Your Inner Leader program, originally designed for teams, evolved into a deeply personal experience of uncovering the facets that make each person shine.

“The gem symbolizes who you are at your core,” Nancy shared. “When you understand your unique facets, you align your purpose with your actions, allowing you to truly shine.”

Working with Nancy to uncover my gem was transformative. It allowed me to see myself more clearly, embrace my authenticity, & build confidence in my purpose.

Nancy’s work has helped me focus on responding with grace instead of reacting defensively, shifting my mindset to one of curiosity & openness.
